The UCC2813PWTR-1 is a linear voltage regulator and is a highly integrated, pulse-width modulation (PWM) controller device that is specifically designed to offer optimal power conversion. It provides the active PWM regulation and all other functions necessary to build a complete switched-mode power supply (SMPS) with minimum external components. The UCC2813PWTR-1 is ideal for low-power applications that require a cost-effective current-mode PWM controller, and is particularly suitable for telecom/ datacom applications, such as small power routers, low-end mainframes, etc. The UCC2813PWTR-1 offers synchronous rectification, along with improved efficiency in off-line and dc-to-dc converter applications. Its input voltage tolerance range is wide enough to alleviate the need for design of a separate mezzanine power stage, typically required by low-power converter applications. The internal regulator of the UCC2813PWTR-1 is capable of providing an output voltage error that is substantially less than those of standard linear regulators. The UCC2813PWTR-1 offers the capability of being used in non-isolated topologies, such as buck, forward, and flyback converters, as well as isolated topologies, such as isolated 2-switch forward, push-pull forward, quasi-resonant, and full-bridge topologies. Moreover, the scalable current-mode control architecture provides optimal adjustments in transient response, loop compensation and stability. The unique architecture of the UCC2813PWTR-1 integrates several features for improved diode emulation, overload protection, thermal shut down, cycle-by-cycle current limiting, and line and load transient protection. External components and/or external programming is used to optimize the control loop parameters for each specific application. The working principle of the UCC2813PWTR-1 is to regulate the output voltage by controlling the pulse width of the switching signal. It applies an internal voltage reference, enables current sense, and switches the output MOSFETs on and off according to a User-defined oscillator frequency.
