These capacitors are extremely versatile and have many uses ranging from power supplies, to RF amplifiers, to timing circuits. The UMA1H2R2MDD1TE is an aluminum electrolytic capacitor designed for use in power circuits where a high degree of accuracy and reliability is required.The UMA1H2R2MDD1TE is constructed of an anode in the center which is composed of a rolled and anodized aluminum foil. The anode is surrounded by a dielectric, also referred to as an insulating medium, typically made of paper or plastic coated fiber. Encasing the anode and dielectric is a cylindrical metal case, usually formed of stainless steel, which houses the electrolyte. The electrolyte is typically a mixture of borax and sulfuric acid and is highly conductive.The capacitor works based on the principle of electrochemical deposition. When an electrical current is applied to the aluminum anode, the electrolyte solution is electrolyzed and an oxide film is deposited on the anode. This film acts as an insulating barrier and prevents current flow through the capacitor. However, because of the very thin oxide layer, a significant amount of capacitance is still achieved. The electrolyte solution also serves to dampen any sudden changes in voltage and helps to reduce any noise or spikes in the output.The UMA1H2R2MDD1TE capacitor is designed to be used in high voltage power applications such as in power supplies and motor controllers. The capacitor is capable of handling a maximum voltage of 1000V AC and a maximum capacitance of 100uF.
