Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors and UML1H3R3MDD Application Field and Working PrincipleAluminum electrolytic capacitors, which are also known as aluminum electrolytic capacitors, aluminium electrolytic capacitors, or electrochemical capacitors, are the most common form of capacitor used in electronic applications today. The simplest capacitor consists of two electrical conductors separated by a dielectric material. The conductors usually consist of two metal plates or surfaces which have a positive and negative electrical charge. This cylindrically shaped component is available in a wide range of volumes, from 1.6 mm³ to 41.6 mm³. The devices are available in full range DC working voltage from 6.3 VDC to 100 VDC, with capacitance ranges from 1.5µF to 220µF. The UML1H3R3MDD series is rated up to 125°C and has a life expectancy of 6000 hours at 105°C.The UML1H3R3MDD series is designed to be used in electronic circuits with low ripple current, moderate frequency, and low ESR requirements. This series is well-suited for high-temperature and low-leakage applications in consumer electronic and industrial control applications, such as AC/DC and DC/DC power supplies, telecom systems, and general industrial operation.The UML1H3R3MDD series works by storing electrical energy in the form of an electric field between the two electrodes of the capacitor. When a voltage is applied to the terminals of the capacitor, a current flows through the device and stores energy by charging the plates.
