Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors consist of an aluminum metal capsule, which is hermetically sealed with a cap and filled with an electrolytic aqueous solution. The aluminum channels that make up the metal capsule contain two electrolytes that react when an electrical stimulation is applied to the aluminum metal capsule. The aluminum ionization combined with the electrons from the electrical stimulation causes the metal ions to form a thin oxide layer on the aluminum metal capsule. This layer of oxide helps with the capacitive effect which then stores energy.

UPM2A330MPD is a type of Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitor that uses non-solid electrolyte and large or extra large can size. It has its own application field such as power supply, welding machine and electroplating rectifier. The capacitor combines two layers, an anode layer and a cathode layer, separated by a conductive solid or liquid electrolyte. The capacitance of 2.2 - 4700 μF is realized depending on size and voltage requirements.

UPM2A330MPD has a rated voltage of 160V, 315V, 350V, 400V and 450V, and also a wide capacitance range from 2.2 μF up to 4700 μF. This type of capacitor has an extremely low equivalent series resistance and have excellent ripple current characteristics. The product also has an insulation resistance of 1000 MΩ (min.) at the rated voltage. Furthermore, the leakage current is controlled to never exceed the specified value.

Working Principle: The UPM2A330MPD is unique in that it uses a non-solid electrolyte to store energy. This non-solid electrolyte consists of an electrolyte solution of water, alcohol and a few other components. The aluminum metal capsule contains both an anode and a cathode, which create a Faradaic reaction that produces the electrical charge in the capacitor. When an external voltage is applied to the capacitor, the anode and the cathode exchange ions, forming an electrolyte film and allowing electrons to flow between the two electrodes. This charge-discharge behavior forms the capacitor\'s working principle.

The UPM2A330MDP has useful applications in AC/DC systems and provides high capacitance and high ripple current in a robust aluminum enclosure.
