Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are made up of metal plates which are sealed within an anode can. A dielectric oxide layer which is deposited on the anode is used and acts as the electrical insulation between the anode and the cathode. An electrolyte of an inverted layer is used to fill the gap between the anode and the cathode. The whole assembly is then tightly sealed and the electrolyte is used to provide the means of charge transfer between the two plates. The electrolytic capacitor is also known as “wet-cell” capacitor since this component is filled with liquid electrolyte. The main purpose of a capacitor is to store/collect charges; however, the electrolytic capacitor works on a different principle compared to other types of capacitors.

The UVY2A102MHD is an aluminum electrolytic capacitor with great performance characteristics. This capacitor is designed to provide higher capacitance values, high operating temperature range, and higher ripple current ratings. The UVY2A102MHD features a large diameter can size which is perfect for applications with limited space for installation. Furthermore, this capacitor is equipped with a snap-in terminal design which makes it easy to install into printed circuit boards (PCB). UVY2A102MHD is suitable for both low and high ripple current applications where it can provide a maximum of 110V rating.

In addition to its wide range of voltage rating, the UVY2A102MHD also has an excellent temperature range. The maximum operating temperature is typically 85℃, however with a rated voltage of 105V and below the temperature range can go as high as 105℃. The working principle of aluminum electrolytic capacitors is fairly simple. In its normal operation, a DC voltage will be applied across the capacitor to create an electric field between the anode and the cathode. When this happens, ions from the electrolyte will start to migrate to either the anode or the cathode to neutralize the field. During this process, electrons also flow from the anode to the cathode to balance the current—a process known as charge transfer. The electrolytic capacitors are used in many industries and applications such as DC-DC converters, power supply filters, television tuners, audio signal processing networks, and RF amplifiers.

UVY2A102MHD aluminum electrolytic capacitors are capable of operating in a wide temperature range and are ideal for low and high ripple current applications. The large can size provides greater space for installation and the snap-in terminals allow easier assembly. The device also comes with a rated voltage of up to 110V which provides high capacitance values and is perfect for both commercial and industrial applications.
