Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors

An aluminum electrolytic capacitor, often abbreviated as AEC or Al-cap, uses an aluminum foil as an anode, with a very thin layer of an insulating oxide film formed on its surface. A cathode and an electrolyte-soaked paper, called a separator, are then placed in contact with the oxide layer and serve as the negative electrode in the capacitor.

UVY2D220MPD is an aluminum electrolytic capacitor from Vishay. It is one of the newer and improved designs, which offers more reliability, greater capacitance and higher temperature range than previous models.
