The PPTC element exhibits a high resistance at normal operating temperatures, and the resistance decreases as the temperature increases. This decrease results in an increase in nominal voltage values and current ratings.The V220CH8 utilizes an outside frame design with eight (8) pins. It features high energy absorption capability, excellent voltage protection, excellent thin-film ESD protection and an internal resettable fuse. The device provides an off-state impedance of ~4000 ohms, a typical operating temperature of -40°C to +85°C, and a maximum operate current of 1A. The V220CH8 is available in a 5V, 10V, 16V, 20V, 24V, and 30V version, allowing it to be used in a wide range of applications.The V220CH8 operates on the principle of voltage limitation or clamping action. When the input voltage reaches the threshold voltage of the V220CH8, the resistance of the device begins to decrease. As the voltage increases, the resistance decreases further, and the device begins to draw current. This current is known as the clamp current and acts as a buffer between the high input voltage and the protected output. The V220CH8 offers a wide range of clamp voltage protection from 5V to 30V, with a maximum peak pulse current rating of 1.5A.Applications of the V220CH8 include automotive systems, power supplies, telecommunications, and computers.
