Varistors, or Voltage-Dependent Resistors (VDRs), are devices with a highly nonlinear resistance over a wide operating voltage range. They are commonly used as a form of transient voltage suppression (TVS) in a variety of electronic applications because of their ability to control overvoltage during power-up and power-down of sensitive components.
