TVS - Varistors, MOVs are protective components designed to provide protection against transient voltage events. The principle of protection for these components is to limit or absorb the induced voltage occurring during the transient voltage event. The V575LT40CP Varistor is a multi-layer varistor (MLV) that is designed to offer superior performance power surges protection. This device is capable of clamping up to 40V at 500 amps (8/20us) while dissipating up to 275 volts.
The V575LT40CP device consists of six layers of zinc oxide grain and epoxy molding compound, giving it the ability to absorb large levels of energy and reduce the risk of arcing. The device works by providing a pathway for excess energy to dissipate. When an energy surge occurs, the varistor diverts much of the energy away from the sensitive components. It acts as a voltage regulator, regulating the circuits voltage to a safe level that the components can tolerate. As the surge dissipates, the varistor returns to its normal state.
The cost effective V575LT40CP Varistor is suitable for a wide range of applications including power converters, remote access systems, power supplies, and industrial control systems. Furthermore, conventional lightning protectors and TVS diodes are unable to provide the same protection against high-power surges in portable products, and the V575LT40CP is the ideal solution.
This device possesses a high surge rating of 8/20 us wave shape and maximum clamping voltage of 40V. This feature helps the device to absorb high-energy transients caused by nearby lightning strikes. Furthermore, its high surge current of 500 and low ESR (equivalent series resistance) value of 0.085Ω allow it to handle peak currents more efficiently. As an added safety measure, the V575LT40CP Varistor includes an integral 6kV MOV that guards against hyperacute arcing, thus ensuring high reliability.
The V575LT40CP Varistor also contains a NTC (Negative Temperature Characteristic) thermistor for thermal protection which prevents the device from overheating. This thermistor further enhances the safety of the device and ensures that it will not be damaged in case of an extreme surge. This thermistor also provides an added advantage in that it is capable of self-resetting after the transient event.
The V575LT40CP varistor offers superior protection against high-power surges and is suitable for a wide range of applications. Its high surge current, clamping voltage, ESR, and NTC thermistor provide a superior level of protection for sensitive components. Furthermore, its cost-effectiveness makes it an ideal solution for applications where protection against transient voltage events is required.
