The VEML6030-GS15 optical sensor provides a current output or an analog voltage output of up to 1 lux resolution for the spectral range of visible light. It is an ambient light, IR, UV sensor which is used for various applications in sensor, lighting control, and display control.
The primary function of the VEML6030-GS15 is to accurately measure ambient light intensity and to convert it into a suitable form for further signal processing. This sensor is capable of capturing ambient light in the range of 400 nm to 1000 nm, or visible light from 400 nm to 750 nm. The wavelength response is very flat with nearly all visible light being captured.
The VEML6030-GS15 sensor is made of a membrane and two metal layers. The membrane is composed of a transparent light transmitter, photodetector, and integrated LED.
