The VO4257H-X009T optoisolator contains an infrared LED which is optically coupled to a solid-state TRIAC containing two integrated thermistors. The optoisolator provides electrical isolation between input and output, allowing them to operate at different voltage levels in AC or DC applications.It can control ac voltage up to 480 Vac, making it ideal for applications like phase control, AC Motor control, AC motor speed control, AC load control, Household Appliances safety switch and etc.

The working principle is simple:The saturated TRIAC functions as a latching switch, the opto diode then transmits the logic signal it receives from the control circuit to it\'s corresponding pin, and the TRIAC would be activated and disconnected .When the control signal is off, the TRIAC would be reset and return to its initial state.The therm electronic elements installed in the TRIAC possess a self-protection function, they would open the TRIAC when overloaded or short circuit.
