Introduction to VTVS36GSMF-HM3-18VTVS36GSMF-HM3-18 are TVS (Transient Voltage Suppression) Diodes. They are semiconductor devices that suppress voltage spikes caused by electrostatic discharge as well as lightning-induced transients and power inductive transients. In the context of TVS-Diodes these transients are also known as EOSs (Electrostatic Discharge).These type of diodes offer three major advantages. Firstly, they are extremely efficient in suppressing overvoltage and within a short space of time, eliminating the risk of transconductance and providing extra protection against overvoltage transients. Secondly, because of their small size they occupy little space and are extremely reliable and durable. Finally, they do not require any external components to achieve their protection objectives.Application Field and Working Principle of VTVS36GSMF-HM3-18VTVS36GSMF-HM3-18 can be used in a wide range of applications such as automotive, industrial, consumer electronics, computers, power supplies, medical and telecommunications, to name but a few. The working principle behind these protection devices is that they are reverse-biased when a voltage spike occurs. The reverse polarity causes the diode to very quickly transition from a high impedance to a low one, essentially trying to limit the voltage spike to a safe level. During this transition, the diode acts like a nearly closed switch but still has some small amount of voltage drop. Also, when the reverse voltage increases to its clamping voltage, the diode opens its switch.
