Working Principle

X5045PIZ-2.7A contains two separate circuits in order to provide comprehensive protection against multiple problems. One is a two-pin voltage supervisor and the other is an adjustable current supervisor.The two-pin voltage supervisor is capable to detect and respond to extreme over-voltage condition, or under-voltage situation such as excessive current in a short-circuit or brown out condition. It has the ability to quickly detect any abnormal situation, then after a predetermined delay, will trigger a low-state output signal to shut down power supply and thus protect the system from further damage.The current supervisor part is used to protect system from continuous over-current. This is achieved by setting the maximum current level limit above which it will detect, then reduce the power supply voltage as well as actuating an external circuit breaker or powering off a MOSFET or other components.
