The X5083PZ-2.7 supervisor provides several key features to provide reset, power management and protection for system and device. For reset mode, it provides an active-high Q output for reset, a power-good flag for system poweron-reset and voltage supervisor for powering down the regulators. In terms of power management, it offers an extremely low quiescent current and a very low output enable lockout threshold for I/O power down. Furthermore, it also has a low dropout regulator and external pull-ups and pull-downs on the reset and power-good signals, respectively, so that the supervisor can be used in multi-voltage applications. Finally, in regards to protection, the supervisor is able to monitor both the voltage and current resulting from a fault condition, thereby protecting the system and device from any damage.Application Fields

The X5083PZ-2.7 supervisor monitors the power supply input and the reset and power-good flag signals in order to determine the proper state at power on. The supervisor is constantly monitoring the power supply voltage with an internal voltage monitor. If the voltage drops below the reset threshold, the supervisor will issue a reset signal. This signal is sent to the reset inputs of the microcontroller and memory devices, forcing them into their reset state. When the dropped voltage returns to a safe level, the supervisor will then set the reset and power-good flag, allowing the system to begin normal operation.When the voltage rises above the reset threshold, the supervisor will establish the reset/power-good flag, as well as the active-high Q output for reset. The Q output is an active-high signal which is asserted when the supervisor is powered-on. This signal is used to indicate that the system is in a safe, powered-on state. This signal can also be used to initiate the required power-on initialization sequence of the system.The X5083PZ-2.7 supervisor also provides a number of features for protection against short circuits, overheat conditions and fault conditions. The supervisor will monitor the input current and shut down if the current exceeds the specified limit. It will also monitor the junction temperature and shut down if the temperature exceeds the specified limit. Finally, should any fault condition occur, the supervisor will shut down the system, preventing further damage.Conclusion
