PMIC - Supervisors have been a fixture in industry since the 1960s and they continue to evolve. The X5083P-4.5A is a microcontroller-based PMIC. It is capable of monitoring: battery voltage, system clock, supply voltage, system reset, voltage set and continuously optically isolating the processor core.
Application Field
The X5083P-4.5A is specifically designed to be used in industrial applications but has applications in power supplies, motor and general system control. It can provide information about the operating state of a circuit, enabling system and device protection. It is highly accurate and reliable, and can be configured to a voltage range of 5.0V to 4.0V.
Working Principle
The X5083P-4.5A integrates active, passive and optical protection functions into a single device. The microcontroller is responsible for monitoring the power supply and system reset states. It is capable of monitoring battery voltage, system clock, supply voltage, set voltage and continuously optically isolating the processor core. The microcontroller is connected to the external user signals via opto couplers and Current Feedback Comparators. The opto couplers are used to isolate the external signals from the microcontroller. The Current Feedback Comparators (CFC) are used to detect any faults within the system.
The primary function of the X5083P-4.5A is to monitor the supply voltage and reset states of a system. When the voltage input is within a preset range, the microcontroller will generate a Reset Low Pulse that will inform the processor core that the power supply is good. When the voltage input drops outside of the preset range, the microcontroller will generate a Reset High Pulse that will inform the processor core that the power supply could be lost or overvoltage.
In addition to voltage monitoring, the X5083P-4.5A also offers protection against power supply over-voltage, under-voltage, over-temperature, ESD and surge. Over-voltage protection guards against voltage exceeding the preset range, while under-voltage protection guards against voltage dropping too low. Over-temperature protection guards against excessive heat, while ESD and surge protection guard against exposure to external sources of electricity.
The X5083P-4.5A also provides system reset and ESD protection for a variety of industrial applications. Upon system power up, the microcontroller will monitor the incoming voltage and reset the system if the voltage is not within the correct range. In addition, the ESD protection feature guards against exposure to external sources of electricity.
The X5083P-4.5A is a highly accurate and reliable microcontroller-based PMIC. It offers highly accurate monitoring and protection functions, while providing system reset and ESD protection. It is well suited for industrial applications that require a high level of reliability and accuracy.
