The ZMM5262B-7 is a single Zener Diode used in a range of applications. It is a low-noise, low-leakage diode fabricated in silicon epitaxial planar technology. This diode offers a reverse breakdown voltage of 7.0 volts and its rated maximum power dissipation is 500 mW when mounted on an FR-4 substrate with a maximum junction-to-ambient thermal resistance of 25°C/W. It is suitable for use in a variety of electronic applications such as for clipping, clamping or voltage reference, voltage stabilization, signal isolation, signal clamping, surge protection, and noise suppression.

ZMM5262B-7 Application Field:

The ZMM5262B-7 is mainly used in the following fields:
  • Clipping and Clamping Circuits – Clipping and clamping circuits provide signals limitation such as rectification and shaping purposes. This diode can also be used to protect signals and other circuits from overvoltages and transients.
  • Voltage Reference/Stabilization – This Zener diode is designed to operate as a voltage reference or stabilization which can maintain a constant voltage across components.
  • Signal Isolation/Clamping – The diode can also be used as an isolator or a clamping circuit which provides signal isolation between components while preventing the high dv/dt transients from affecting the signal flow.
  • Surge Protection – This diode is also able to limit the amount of transient current flow. It is ideal for applications where surge protection is required.

ZMM5262B-7 Working Principle:

The ZMM5262B-7 diode is operated in the following 3 modes:
  • Reverse Breakdown: This is the primary mode of operation in which the reverse voltage applied to the diode exceeds the breakdown voltage. This causes the diode to break down, forming an avalanche current. This current is limited by the internal resistance of the diode and helps to regulate voltage in the circuit.
  • Reverse Blocking: Under reverse blocking mode, the applied reverse voltage is less than the Zener voltage and the diode acts as an open circuit, blocking the current flow.
  • Forward Biasing: Forward biasing involves the application of a voltage across the anode and cathode of the diode. This causes the diode to become forward biased and the diode acts as a closed circuit and current flows through the diode.
