Working Principle
The 1N4933RLG is a monolithic bridge rectifier diode. It has two anode (positive) terminals and two cathode (negative) terminals. When a AC power supply is applied to the anode terminals, the diode will display a highly efficient non-linear conduction characteristics, and current can flow from the anode to the cathode. When the applied voltage reaches a peak voltage, the diode will become reverse biased and will no longer conduct current. This effect is known as full-wave rectification.
In the case of half-wave rectification, the applied voltage consists of only one half of an AC cycle, with the negative half of the wave blocked due to reverse biasing. This means that only one of the anode terminals is actually conducting. The 1N4933RLG is capable of withstanding the reverse bias generated by the blocked half-wave, thus allowing it to effectively block DC from crossing from one side to the other.
