Diodes - Zener - Single
The PGSM-A4743HM2G is a single monolithic, low-voltage Zener diode that is designed specifically for input clamping in low-speed, AC/DC supplies and microprocessors. It provides excellent protection against transient overvoltages such as ESD, faults, and noise. It is also used to approximately limit voltage transients, and for reverse polarity protection.
Application Field
The PGSM-A4743HM2G is a compact, low-power, low-voltage Zener diode that provides excellent protection to a variety of AC/DC and microprocessor applications. It is an ideal device for protecting against voltage surges, radiation-induced transients, ESD pulses, and other overvoltage conditions. Additionally, it is well-suited to protect against reverse polarity conditions that may occur in applications.
Working Principle
The Zener diode works as a voltage regulator. A Zener diode is specifically designed to operate in either breakdown or forward-biased states. When forward-biased, the diode operates as a regular diode, allowing current to flow in the forward direction. When breakdown occurs, a volt-ampere condition is established in reverse bias, allowing current to flow in the reverse direction. Zener diodes are constructed to allow the reverse current flow to be controlled, allowing for the voltage to be set at a specifically chosen value.
The PGSM-A4743HM2G, when receive a voltage spike, will allow the current to pass through it in a reversely bias condition and reduce the voltage to the desired level. The device features a reverse break-down voltage at 1.8V and a high clamping voltage at 3.7V which are suitable for input clamping in low-speed, AC/DC supplies, and microprocessors. Besides, this device can dissipates reverse power up to 30mW, which enables it operate at higher temperature than most other diodes.
