The Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitor, synonymous with the term electrolytic capacitor, is a reliable low cost compact capacitor with high capacitance per volume. It is widely used in the construction of the electrical and electronic circuits. Its application field can be found in the power supply circuits of microprocessors, digital cameras, cell phones, computers etc. The 400SXG100MEFC20X35 capacitors are electrolytic capacitors with high capacitance and relatively small size. It has an operating temperature range of -40 to +125C and voltage range of 100 to 315V. Its capacitance is between 390µF and 408µF. It has a low leakage current and good solderability.

The working principle of the 400SXG100MEFC20X35 aluminum electrolytic capacitor is pretty much the same with other types of electrolytic capacitors. The structure of the capacitor consists of two set of electrodes: the positive electrode or the anode and the negative electrode or the cathode. An electrolyte is placed between the two electrodes. An insulating oxide coating is formed when the two electrodes are polarized. It is this layer of oxide coating that separates the two electrodes and prevents them from forming a short circuit. The cathode and the electrolyte are also connected to a terminal on the capacitor. This terminal can be connected to a circuit.

When a voltage is applied across the leads of the capacitor, current starts flowing across the capacitor. This current extracts ions from the electrolyte, which then move towards the anode, thereby producing a positive charge on the anode. And since the electrolyte also has a negative charge, this results in the formation of the insulating oxide coating on the anode. This creates a space between the anode and the cathode, which acts as a dielectric for the capacitor. As a result of this, the capacitor is able to store the electric charge.
