Aluminum electrolytic capacitors (sometimes abbreviated to ALCAP or EL-CAP) are one of the most common type of capacitor used in electronic circuits. They are a form of electrolytic capacitor, i.e. they contain an electrolyte as one of their electrical components and they use a metallic aluminum foil as the anode. ALCAPs are widely used in applications where high capacitance values, long life and low cost are required. The 500BXC22MEFC12.5X35 aluminum electrolytic capacitor works on the principle of electrolysis.
