The ceramic body is the main element of the diode. The main functions of the ceramic body are to support the other elements of the diode, keep a temperature constant to increase durability, and conduct heat away from the diode. The metal cap holds the other elements in place, and it’s also used to fix the ACZRW5250B-G on a PCB. It is also used as a grounding terminal.
