Introduction:ADG409BR is a quad, bidirectional SP2T analog switch. It is a member of the Analog Devices\' family of Integrated Circuits (ICs) designed for multiplexer and switch applications. With a wide variety of on-chip functions and configurability, ADG409BR provides superior performance in terms of size, speed and power. This paper will discuss the application field and working principles of the ADG409BR as well as its usefulness in multiplexer and switch applications.Application Field and Working Principle:
ADG409BR is a high-speed analog switch IC used in multiplexer and switch applications. The ADG409BR has two configurable sections each containing two single-pole/two-throw (SP2T) through-hole ports. Each port can be configured as a single-pole/single-throw (SPST), single-pole/single-throw plus one extra through-hole port (SPST + 1), or a single-pole/two-throw (SP2T) port.The ADG409BR operates in a Single-Ended (SE) or Differential-ended (DE) configuration. In SE mode, each port can be independently routed to any of four possible Signal Inputs or outputs. In DE mode, each port is divided into a positive Input/Output and negative Input/Output which can be internally connected to either of two common signal Inputs/Outputs. The flexibility of DE mode allows for low-noise operation when connecting to digital circuits or driving devices with balanced signals.The ADG409BR can be powered by single-ended or differential power supplies of 1.8 to 5.5 volts. The input signal swing range is up to 5.5V, with a logic threshold of 0.8V and a static power consumption of 2 mW per channel. The signal rise/fall times are typically 3-7 ns and 6-12 ns in SE and DE mode respectively.The ADG409BR offers high immunity to Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI) by virtue of its small device size and low input current requirements. Its ESD performance exceeds 8kV Human Body Model (HBM).The ADG409BR is suitable for use in communication systems, data acquisition systems, DSP and signal switching applications, audio systems, voltmeter circuit applications and various other analog switching applications.Conclusion:
