The ADG758BCPZ consists of two independent 8×1 multiplexers with bilateral switches for analog switching applications, developed and manufactured by Analog Devices, Inc. These devices offer remarkably low on-resistance of 3Ω and low total harmonic distortion (THD). Aside from its low power consumption of 1.5mW, its relatively compact footprint makes the ADG758BCPZ suitable for many space-limited applications. Therefore, this device facilitates the design of general-purpose switching solutions.

The ADG758BCPZ can be used for selection of one of eight possible inputs for applications that require multiple switch pools such as automated test systems, audio systems, data acquisition system, analog signal routing, and so on. The ADG758BCPZ can also serve as a non-blocking multiplexer to connect multiple output channels together in order to access one single source, as well as a non-blocking demultiplexer to connect one single source to multiple outputs. In addition, it can serve as a cross-connect switch to connect multiple sources together and route them to a single output, or vice versa.

The ADG758BCPZ is a high-performance device primarily intended for use in spurious-free signal switching solutions. Its extremely low on-state resistance makes it suitable for switching high-frequency signals with minimal degradation. Its low power consumption, wide signal range, and low total harmonic distortion (THD) make it suitable for high-resolution analog signal applications such as 8~20MHz signal bandwidth. The device is available in a 14-lead SOIC package, with a signal range of 9V.

The ADG758BCPZ features high-speed CMOS logic circuitry and low signal propagation delay for signal switching applications. The device features on-chip resistors which provide high signal integrity. The multiplexer and bilateral switch on-resistance of the ADG758BCPZ are matched to achieve uniform switching performance, eliminating signal distortion in the signal path. Additionally, the device also features an active-low enable input which can be used to both enable and disable the device.

The working principle of the ADG758BCPZ is quite simple. The device’s logic pins are connected to a bank of eight (8) analog switches. Each switch is connected to two sets of eight (8) differential inputs (9V each) and can select an appropriate signal from one set for further processing. The selection is determined by the binary codes given at the input side, each comprising three bits. The device is especially suitable for multiplexing signals as its low power consumption, low total harmonic distortion (THD), and low on-resistance of 3Ω make it suitable for high frequency signals. When the enable input is set to low, the device is disabled and all its analog switches are open. The output is then disconnected from the input side.

The ADG758BCPZ is particularly suitable for applications that require selecting one of eight inputs with fast settling time and low power consumption. Its small form factor and wide signal range enable its use in space-limited platforms.
