Working Principle

The core of the ADG904BRU is a set of nine double-pole double-throw switches, each consisting of two N-type metal oxide semiconductor (NMOS) switches and two P-type metal oxide semiconductor (PMOS) switches. A PMOS switch has one gate and two drain terminals. When one gate is positive, the drain nodes connected to the gate will source current. An NMOS switch has one gate and two source terminals. When one gate is negative, the source nodes connected to the gate will sink current. In addition to the nine double-pole double-throw switches, the ADG904BRU has an internal controlling circuitry. This circuitry provides a series of CFB (common feedback) terminals that act as a single differential precision voltage reference. This voltage reference is used to control the switching operation of the switches. When a signal is applied, the controlling circuitry evaluates the current flow and produces a voltage depending on the current flow. This voltage is used to control the specific switch’s internal control circuitry, thus turning the switch on or off. The ADG904BRU features up to four selectable output states that are controlled by two logic inputs. This allows for four distinct output states which can be independently controlled. Furthermore, the device features two logic enable inputs that can be used to put the device into an inactive state. In this state, all switches are ‘OFF’ and the output is disconnected or steered to a high impedance state.
