.The ADP1612-BL3-EVZ evaluation board is an excellent application for DC/DC and AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPSs. The board is designed for high-efficiency, high-performance offline applications, including LED driver designs, with variable output current capability from less than 100 mA to 6.5A. It is suitable for applications that require ultra-low component counts, high-density, ultra-high efficiency and fast loop response.
The ADP1612 BL3-EVZ uses a current-mode controller for fast loop response, providing high-accuracy, high-bandwidth control for high efficiency applications without the need for output filter elements. Compensator components are located on the front of the board, making it easy to adjust the output voltage by simply rotating the potentiometer. The ADP1612-BL3-EVZ also features an internal soft-start, open-loop voltage regulation, a built-in synchronization feature, a low-noise AVSS and enhanced electrical noise protection.
The ADP1612-BL3-EVZ evaluation board is designed for high-power applications, featuring independent primary and secondary control MOSFETs that enable efficient operation over a wide input voltage range. The board also features a high-current PFC stage and a bridge rectifier. This efficient power-factor-corrected configuration provides superior performance at all output currents and minimizes the need for a large, expensive heatsink.
The ADP1612-BL3-EVZ evaluation board is also fully compliant with the EN61000-3-2 level IV standard, making it suitable for many applications, including lighting, computer servers, consumer electronics, and other power supply applications.
The evaluation board is designed to provide an efficient, cost effective platform for evaluating and designing with the ADP1612 BL3 DC/DC and AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPSs. It has all the necessary components to evaluate the performance, features and applications of ADP1612 BL3 devices. Components included on the evaluation board are a TMS320F281xx MCU, low-dropoutlinear regulator, current-mode PWM controller and thermal protection.
In order to allow the user to easily adjust the various parameters of the control loop, the board includes a graphical user interface (GUI) on an LCD display. The GUI allows the user to adjust the current and voltage settings as well as view the output characteristics such as peak current, ripple voltage, duty cycle, etc. This helps to ensure easy debugging and speeding up the development process.
The ADP1612-BL3-EVZ also includes a number of protection features such as over-voltage, undervoltage, short circuit and over-temperature, which provide protection against faults and allow for greater user confidence and safety. In addition, the board provides excellent EMC performance, with minimized EMI noise, making it well suited for a wide variety of applications.
With its low component count, high-performance, low-noise design, an efficient power factor-corrected topology, and a full complement of protection and debugging features, the ADP1612-BL3-EVZ evaluation board is an excellent choice for evaluating and designing with DC/DC and AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPSs.
