ADP1850SP-EVALZ is a robust, cutting edge device from Texas instruments. It can be used to evaluate the Analog Digital Power (ADP) series of DC/DC power converters, AC/DC boost converters, and DC/DC controllers. Additionally, the user can adjust settings, such as switching frequency and output voltage, to achieve different power requirements. Furthermore, users can fine tune their power supply to deliver peak efficiency by optimizing the component placement on the board.
The ADP1850SP-EVALZ is comprised of two halves: one half containing the step down converter and the second half containing the buck converter. It is comprised of three main features: the control circuit, the current sensing circuit, and the isolated output circuit. These features are incorporated into a single board which allows the user to observe and adjust the power supply performance in real time. Additionally, the board provides a convenient method to measure power output, as well as efficiency, line and load regulation, and load transient response.
The control circuit features a Power Integrations ADP1850 Source-Side Controller and an Infineon XMC4500 MCU for digital control. The current sensing circuit is implemented using a single-op-amp current-sense amplifier and features an open-drain +/-6V input voltage range with a 0.3 mV voltage sensitivity. The isolated output circuit consists of Infineon’s CoolMOS Power MOSFET and is designed to limit the peak current level to 3A. The ADP1850SP-EVALZ also features an isolated/independent output voltage level which can be adjusted via the digital control interface.
The ADP1850SP-EVALZ is a robust, cutting-edge evaluation board designed to facilitate the development of DC/DC & AC/DC power supplies. It is capable of providing a range of output voltages with peak efficiency, high power density, and improved line and load regulation.
