The ADP1875-0.3-EVALZ is an evaluation board which falls into the category of DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS. It is a fully enclosed, single output, constant voltage switching step-down (buck) power supply module. It employs a novel, continuously-variable PWM controller which is implemented with adaptive feed-forward control, allowing for the module to provide tight load and line regulations even under light load conditions.

The evaluation board provides a standardized power solution for powering and testing devices with different loads. ADP1875-0.3-EVALZ comprises of buck regulator circuit, pluggable connectors, ACS757 and NTC thermistor for current/temperature sensing, opto-coupler as a feedback mechanism, Gate driver IC, and two noise suppression capacitors.

The working principle of the ADP1875-0.3-EVALZ is quite simple. It utilizes a Buck regulator circuit, and switching connections to achieve different output voltages. When a load is placed on the circuit, the response of the circuit will change accordingly by regulating the gate drive voltage, which will further regulate the output voltage. Then the feedback loop will readjust the output voltage to maintain the desired outputs.

The main feature of the ADP1875-0.3-EVALZ is that it utilizes an adaptive feed-forward control algorithm which will maintain a very tight output voltage regulation even when there is a very light load. This is achieved by constantly adjusting the gate drive voltage in order to change the duty cycle of the PWM input, thus providing a more efficient control of the output voltage.

Another important feature of the ADP1875-0.3-EVALZ is its high efficiency; it can provide up to 85% efficiency in light load conditions, and up to 95% efficiency in full load conditions. Furthermore, it has built-in over-current, over-temperature, and short-circuit protections. It also has a wide input voltage range of 4.75V to 32V, while the output voltage is adjustable from 0.3V to 25V.
