AOZ1015AI Application Field and Working Principle
AOZ1015AI is a low-profile Synchronous Rectified Buck for use as DC-DC regulator for AC/DC adapter and embedded motor driver applications. It is designed for (but not limited to) 400kHz switching frequency, and contains a large, low ESR output capacitor to maximize transient response. AOZ1015AI is a small, low-profile, synchronous buck regulator with integrated high-side, low-side MOSFETs. Reduced component count and device size are realized through a unique startup, operation, and control scheme.
Application Field
AOZ1015AI is ideal for supplying power to AC/DC adapters, embedded processor core/memory and I/O applications. The switching frequency and output current can be optimized for specific power applications based on external frequency setting and package selection. This Buck regulator feature low ripple, low noise, and very fast transient response.
Working Principle
AOZ1015AI operates in the buck topology, and is composed of a voltage reference IC, error amplifier IC, driver and power MOSFETs, small-signal circuitry, and various resistors and capacitors. It starts up via the current-source configuration for low inrush current and reduced in-rush voltage drop. It is designed to provide phenomenal transient response and output accuracy during heavy load steps.
The low-side and high-side MOSFETs switch to synchronize the power conversion. The input voltage is monitored, divided down, and compared to the internally fixed voltage reference. A signal is generated and sent to error amplifier circuit, which then amplifies the difference voltage between its two inputs into an output error voltage. External components control the output voltage up or down.
To reduce possible EMC interference, the switching frequency of the device is programmed by an external resistor. The voltage sensing circuitry works in an open loop, and adjusts the duty cycle of the power MOSFETs. The output voltage is thereby regulated.
