AOZ1020AI Application Field and Working Principle

The AOZ1020AI is a high efficiency synchronous DC-DC step-down voltage regulator that is specifically designed for power factor correction (PFC) application. This product family includes three versions: AOZ1020AI-01 (1A output), AOZ1020AI-02 (2A output) and AOZ1020AI-03 (3A output). It is designed using Silergy’s proprietary Adaptive Multi-Phase™ technology to deliver high current with fast transient response, in an ultra-small form factor. The AOZ1020AI operates from an input voltage range of 4.5V to 28V, and provides an adjustable output voltage range from 0.8V to 18V with very good line and load regulation. It features a true differential remote sense and adjustable soft-start ramp rate, allowing users to tailor the start-up power consumption to their individual needs. The AOZ1020AI has high efficiency, low noise, fast transient response and excellent line and load regulation, making it suitable for wide variety of power conversion applications such as low noise regulation and/or high density power applications. It also supports diode emulation mode (DEM) and Burst Mode operation to maximize system efficiency while providing a very low no-load current consumption. The AOZ1020AI provides a 3.2A Internal Gate Drive ideal for synchronous buck applications. The IC also features over-current protection, which monitors the current limit, and output over-voltage protection (OVP) and under-voltage protection (UVP), which prevents catastrophic device failures. The AOZ1020AI is targeted for space-constrained applications such as Power Factor Correction (PFC) and distributed power systems with multiple rails requiring fast transient response and precise regulation. This low profile 10.2mm x 10.2mm QFN package is suitable for high density applications, and optimized for thermal performance in VoIE configurations.
