AOZ1019AI is a DC-DC switching regulator belonging to Voltage Regulators family of Power Management IC (PMIC). This chip is primarily used for automotive applications, including Electric Vehicle (EV), Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV), Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV), and Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) applications.The chip is designed such that it can integrate into a battery system and provide precise regulation for distributed power supplies. It provides a wide range of regulated output voltages (6.0V to 20.0V) suitable for the input voltage range up to 48V, allowing excellent system efficiency and energy savings. The power output ranges from 1A to 8A.
AOZ1019AI is based on high-efficiency switch mode design. It uses a buck topology, meaning that it steps down the input voltage to the desired output voltage with a combination of resistors, capacitors, transistors and diodes. This enables very precise regulation of the output voltage with very low power loss. When the input voltage is higher than desired output voltage, the chip buck the input down to the proper output voltage.
AOZ1019AI incorporates safety features that enhance the application\'s overall design. Overvoltage protection (OVP) prevents the chip from passing the unregulated input above a predetermined limit. Output overvoltage protection (OVP) locks the output voltage if it exceeds a certain limit. Short circuit protection (SCP) prevents output current from exceeding a set limit for an extended period of time. This protect against electrical accident as a result of a faulty connection.
The chip also comes with thermal protection (TP), which regulates the chip\'s temperature by shutting down the output current and reducing the power dissipation. This ensures that the chip does not exceed the maximum operating temperature, thereby preventing the risk of permanent damage. Thermal shutdown and restart are configurable to get optimal performance out of the chip.
The AOZ1019AI is also capable of dynamic current sharing. This allows multiple AOZ1019AIs to share the load of the system and provide a higher current output than a single one. This also helps reduce power losses, reduce components and increase efficiency of the system.
AOZ1019AI features low-dropout current regulation that adjusts the output voltage to respond quickly to load variations. This helps reduce the output current ripple, minimize power losses and enable higher efficiency.
AOZ1019AI provides a complete protection system. Over temperature, under voltage lock-out, contact-overload protection and undercurrent-limiting ensure a safe operation without overloading the system or experiencing unexpected shutdown or current spikes.
