The AS7220-BLGT is an ambient light, IR and UV sensor module designed for integration in a variety of applications from smart lighting control to motion sensing. The module consists of an ambient light, an infrared (IR) and/or an ultraviolet (UV) sensor and a dedicated ambient light amplifier, all in a single package. The small, low-profile form factor allows for easy and efficient integration into end product designs.The AS7220-BLGT is designed to measure the intensity of ambient light and infrared (IR) radiation in the environment, as well as the amount of ultraviolet (UV) radiation present in the environment. The module is capable of sensing both visible light and infrared radiation in the spectral range of 0.4 μm to 3.0 μm. It can detect ultra-violet wavelengths from 280 nm up to 410 nm for UV measurement.The on-board integrated circuit (IC) includes a high-gain amplifier designed to detect a wide range of light intensities and provide a value proportional to the intensity of the light. The amplified output signal is then sent to the output of the module.The AS7220-BLGT is based on a photodiode array that incorporates two UV photodiodes and a single ultraviolet (UV) and visible light photodiode. The photodiodes are positioned in such a way that the incident light is sensed by all three photodiodes. This arrangement ensures light intensity measurements from a wide range of angles, enabling accurate, uninterrupted sensing.The output of the module, though, is digital, with the output signals being proportional to the intensity of the light sensed. The module provides 10-bit resolution for both UV and visible light sensing, such as ambient light level or movement detection. It also provides an interrupt pin that can be connected to an MCU to alert the user when the ambient light level exceeds the set threshold value.The AS7220-BLGT can be used in a wide range of applications including, but not limited to, daylight control systems for lighting fixtures, HVAC control systems, automotive lighting and headlight control systems, outdoor lighting applications and automatic street lighting control, medical equipment, security systems, and consumer electronics.Overall, the AS7220-BLGT ambient light, infrared (IR) and ultraviolet (UV) sensor module allows for efficient integration of ambient light sensing capability into a variety of applications, optimizing the performance, power consumption and overall system costs.
