The BA178M09FP-E2 is a three-terminal adjustable linear voltage regulator integrated circuit that uses the latest technology to offer exceptional accuracy in regulating and controlling the output voltage or current of a switch-control power supply while providing protection from overloads and short-circuits. Furthermore, the chip\'s industry standard pinout is engineered for optimal compatibility in the application of linear voltage regulators. The device can be used for many applications, including filtering and regulating power for microprocessors, DSPs, and A/Ds, as well as for controlling light source power. As well, it can also be used as a reference voltage source.

The BA178M09FP-E2 is composed of a transistor array and voltage control circuitry. It is fabricated using advanced BiCMOS process to ensure stability and performance. Its internal structure contains three stages; the first stage is composed of six transistors, the second stage consists of five transistors, and the third stage is composed of three transistors. The nucleus of the chip is the voltage control circuitry, which is enclosed within the core of the integrated circuit. The voltage control circuitry features both error amplifier and output buffer transistors to regulate the voltage. This voltage control circuitry also provides protection from overloads and short-circuits by shutting off the output if the voltage becomes too high or too low, or if the desired current draw is exceeded.

The BA178M09FP-E2’s external connection consists of three pins; the input ground pin (Gnd pin) provides a connection for the reference voltage and ground, the vIN pin is used to supply the input voltage and the Vout pin is connected to provide the adjustable output voltage.
