BAS101,215

The BAS101,215 is a single, encapsulated, area efficient rectifier diode intended for general rectification application. This includes power supply design, DC-DC converters, motor control and home appliance as well as many other consumer or industrial products.

Working Principle:

The BAS101,215 functions as a rectifier when used in rectification applications. Rectification is the process of changing alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC). In the case of the BAS101,215, this is accomplished through the use of YAG crystal construction and a PN junction. The PN junction is formed when two differing materials such as n-type (electron-rich) and p-type (hole-rich) are placed in close proximity. When the PN junction is in place, the YAG crystal acts as a semiconductor, allowing electrical current to flow. This current flowing in one direction is what is known as DC, while current flowing in both directions is what is known as AC.

When operated in rectification, the BAS101,215 acts as a switch, allowing current to pass through when the voltage is above a certain threshold. When the voltage drops below the threshold, the current is blocked.

The BAS101,215 can also be used in inverter applications. In inverters, direct current is converted to alternating current. The BAS101,215, when used in combination with other components, can be used to convert DC to AC. This is done by allowing the current to invert its direction of flow, resulting in AC.
