BAS7005TC Application Field and Working Principle
The BAS7005TC, a product of Diodes Incorporated, is a Dual Series Schottky Diode Array in a standardized surface-mount package. Its use covers a wide range of applications that involve the rectification of alternate electrical signals, such as low level signal switching, voltage-reduction and voltage-rectification. Specifically, it is designed to work with high frequencies ranging from 0.5~6.0GHz in DC conditions.
Design wise, the BAS7005TC package is made up of two diodes of equal voltage capabilities. Each diode is capable of delivering up to 500mA of output current, however, the total maximum current capacity of the BAS7005TC device is limited to 1000mA. Furthermore, the maximum-rated voltage of the device is rated at 65V DC, and it is further protected from reverse leakage currents at its low-voltage nodes. Its low forward Vf of 0.21V at 500mA makes it ideal for circuits that require a low Vf without sacrificing the throughput current.
In terms of operation, the BAS7005TC device is a single chip solution for the rectification of alternate electrical signals. The working principle is straightforward; each diode acts as a voltage rectifier, allowing current to flow only one direction (which is indicated by the arrow on the symbol). This ensures that the alternating current is converted into unidirectional (DC) current.
In spite of its relatively small form factor, the BAS7005TC device is capable of handling the power requirements of high-frequency applications. Its main advantage lies in its ability to deliver high efficiency, low distortion voltage rectification while minimizing the use of external components due to its integrated form.
