The BC307 Transistor is a small signal NPN BJT commonly used for general purpose applications. It is designed for audio and low frequency applications and has an operating frequency range up to 250MHz. With a power handling capability of 1.25W maximum, it is suitable for use in audio amplifiers and general-purpose amplification applications.

The BC307 has a Collector-Base breakdown voltage of 60V, Collector-Emitter breakdown voltage of 40v and an Emitter-Base breakdown voltage of 5.0V. An optimal combination of current ratings such as emitter current of 0.5A, collector current of 1.5A and collect current gain of up to 300 will help this transistor create good efficient current transfer. The switching time of the BC307 is excellent, allowing applications at very high frequency.

The BC307 transistor works by allowing current to flow from the emitter to the collector when a voltage is applied on the base terminal. Unlike N-channel MOSFETs, the BJT requires a base current to operate, so it needs an additional biasing circuit. When the BC307 is operated in saturation mode, the collector current I C depends on the base current I B , following the equation I co = h FE x I B , where h FE is the current gain of the BJT.

The BC307 is primarily used in various consumer electronics and audio amplifiers. The BC307 was designed for low frequency applications, but it’s capable of amplifying high-frequency signals as well. Most BJT transistors come with a maximum voltage rating of 250V across collector and emitter, making them suitable for higher-voltage applications such as power supplies, motor control, and automotive electronics.

The BC307 is also a good choice for RF applications and can be used in RF amplifiers or mixers.
