  • Introduction - BC308A_J35Z transistor

BC308A_J35Z transistor is a single-transistor, general-purpose bipolar junction transistor (BJT), designed to be used in circuits where a high voltage, moderate collector current and low power dissipation are required. It has a high gain bandwidth product, guaranteed collector-emitter breakdown voltage and a maximum dissipation rating. It has a low saturation voltage, a wide range of collector-emitter and base-emitter voltages, and extremely low input capacitance.

  • Application Field

The BC308A_J35Z transistor is usually used in low-power circuits, such as audio amplifiers, switching amplifiers, detectors and low-current amplifiers. That makes it suitable for a wide range of applications such as, but not limited too: RF amplifiers, Class-B amplifiers, oscillators, modulator-demodulator circuits, rectifiers, dc/dc converters and switching power supplies.

The transistor is also used in digital logic applications, when it\'s used as an isolate driver, formation of RTL (resistor-transistor logic) gates, TTL (transistor-transistor logic) and TTL-VLSI (very-large-scale integration) circuits.

The transistor can also be used to provide low-noise tuning for continuous wave, industry and broadcast full-wave rectifier and as a diode in radio and television receivers.

  • Working Principle

A bipolar junction transistor (BJT) is a semiconductor device with three terminals (emitter, base, and collector) commonly used for amplification. The transistor works on the principle of a negative temperature coefficient. When the current flows through the transistor, the temperature of the transistor increases, resulting in the decrease of base current, which in turn leads to the decrease of current gain and the emitter current.

The transistor is composed of two or more PN (positive-negative) junctions. The junction between the collector and base is called the collector junction while the junction between the emitter and the base is called the emitter junction. Forward biasing the base increases the current gain of the transistor, while reverse biasing the base decreases the current gain. When the base is forward biased, the transistor is in the active region. In the active region, the collector current is controlled by the base current. That is, the higher the base current, the higher the collector current.

The BC308A_J35Z transistor is also used in analog switches as it is capable of providing fast switching capability combined with low power consumption. Some of the popular applications for such transistors include, switching power stages, low power amplifiers, time delays, oscillators and other voltage controlled devices. The transistor can also be used as part of a diode logic arrangement for switching vehicle door locks, interior lights, and engine control systems.
