The BQ24076RGTT is a family of integrated power stage solutions that enables users to design battery charging solutions for their embedded applications with the industry’s smallest form factor, highest efficiency, and highest current capabilities.This family of integrated power solutions offers the ultimate in flexibility and scalability. The BQ24076RGTT family offers both dual input (USB/mains) and single input solutions. The dual solutions offer maximum flexibility in order to satisfy any application requirements while simultaneously having the ability to choose the most appropriate charging current and input. The single input solutions provide convenient, simple solutions that are optimized for cost sensitive applications.The BQ24076RGTT family requires a few external components for an application and is designed to work with battery chemistries such as Li-Ion, LiFePO4, or Lead-Acid. These solutions consist of a high-side N-Channel MOSFET, a charge current sense resistor, and low-side gate driver for the MOSFET, and a temperature measurement circuit. The controller also provides a constant charge current and a battery tracking cell voltage output port. The power stage solution also includes additional integration such as built-in protection and diagnostics, which makes it easier to design the battery charging system and helps to protect the battery in an abnormal condition such as over-current or over-temperature during the charge cycle. In addition, an integrated safety timer helps to control the charge duration to eliminate any risk of over-charging the battery. The integrated charge recognition circuit helps to optimize the charging current to improve the battery life by limiting overcharge stress. The integrated low Vbus pull down MOSFET also ensures full charge termination and improves the system reliability. The BQ24076RGTT is optimized to deliver high efficiency over an extended range of charge and discharge currents. The efficiency is further improved by utilizing the ”True-Power-Meter” technology, which eliminates the need for the external sense resistor to sense the power and current for the system.
