PMIC (Power Management Integrated Circuit) - Battery Chargers are designed to power up and protect the rechargeable batteries of mobile devices, including laptops, tablets and smartphones. The BQ24079RGTR is one such PMIC, specifically designed to charge a wide range of lithium-ion, lithium polymer and NiMH batteries. It features an integrated battery buck, which means it can provide both a buck and boost circuit, and has automatic input current limitation to protect the system from over-current and over-voltage hazards. The inputs and outputs can be configured via a serial peripheral interface (SPI).
