Other features include USB compatibility, temperature protection, and charging status output for the host or batteries.

At the heart of the device is a primary charger controller that supports both Li-ion and Li-polymer batteries. This controller works hand in hand with a secondary power management/protection module to screen input voltage, current and temperature.The primary controller also serves to oversee protected charging, while minimising power consumption and self-heating. It supports maximum charge voltage regulation of either 4.2V or 4.35V, and adjustable charge current up to 3A. The controller is also power supply aware, allowing wake-up events during operation.

The BQ24133RGYR also sports two well regulated fixed output voltages: 1.8V and 3.3V. These outputs provide stable supply voltages for other components in the system. Short circuit and thermal protection solutions are also included in the device to prevent overheating or damage during charging. This device also supports a wide operating temperature range from -40°C to +85°C.

Cycle-by-cycle current sensing, automatic input voltage selection and programmable ac current limits make this device a great solution for portable designs. Additional features such as Power-good status and Charge Status Output (CSO) pin command also permit monitoring of charging status from the host.
