The BQ24192IRGER is a high efficiency, low power, adjustable synchronous buck battery charging system. The BQ24192IRGER is designed to provide a complete solution for battery charging in applications including smartphones, wearable devices, and other portable applications.
BQ24192IRGER is a highly integrated device that integrates multiple required components for a battery charger for many mobile automotive and consumer applications. BQ24192IRGER contains a low voltage control loop, dedicated safety power-on reset (POR), and a USB on-the-go (OTG) circuit. It also provides multiple charging patterns for Lithium based batteries such as Li-ion and Li-polymer batteries.
The BQ24192IRGER is available in a 16-pin, 4 mm x 4 mm, TDFN package. This device includes a charge pump, two external N-channel MOSFETs, low voltage regulation control loop and two FETs to control two output paths ( USB-OTG, VOUT ). The BQ24192IRGER monitors battery voltage, temperature and current and provides automatic power on/off control.
The BQ24192IRGER has three operating modes: Constant Voltage (CV) mode, Constant Current (CC) mode, and dual of these modes called Constant Voltage Constant Current (CVCC) mode. In CV mode, the output voltage is regulated to a preset voltage and current is regulated as required. In this mode, the BQ24192IRGER achieves constant voltage regulation. In CC mode, the output current is regulated to a preset current and the voltage is regulated as required to achieve constant current regulation. In CVCC mode, the output voltage is regulated to a preset voltage and the current is regulated to a preset current.
The BQ24192IRGER can also detect external power availability whether it is available from the USB or wall adapter, and switch to the appropriate charge path. When powered by USB, the BQ24192IRGER receives power via a USB port and supports standard USB input with adjustable over-current protection and also includes USB OTG output. When powered by an adapter, the BQ24192IRGER detects automatically if the adapter is a 5V, 7V or 9V type and adjusts its output voltage accordingly to provide constant voltage regulation.
The BQ24192IRGER includes many safety and protection features for battery charging. The device is capable of detecting over-voltage, over-temperature and also monitor the battery current and voltage. Other features include Over-temperature protection (OTP), Over-voltage protection (OVP) and Over-current protection (OCP).
The BQ24192IRGER is designed to provide a complete solution for battery charging in applications such as smartphones, wearable devices, and other portable applications. This device provides a lower power system design, a high level of integration, fast charging and offers multiple charging modes for Lithium-based batteries. The BQ24192IRGER also includes many safety and protection mechanisms to ensure a safe, reliable operation.
