Working Principle of BQ25892RTWR
The BQ25892RTWR power path and charging controller operates using a constant-voltage (CV) and constant-current (CC) charging profile. It provides seamless charging without interruption while maintaining safety standards.The device operates in a four-step charging cycle: pre-charge, CV, CC and terminating charge. During pre-charge, the controller uses a programmable current limit which can be set up to enable the device to select a safe-charging level for the battery. In the CV charge stage, the maximum voltage is set and maintained by the controller. As the battery reaches the appropriate voltage level, the controller switches the regulator mode to constant current and the current limit is adjusted to safely charge the battery.The BQ25892RTWR charging controller can monitor the battery’s charge status and terminate the charge cycle when the battery is fully charged. It also has an internal thermal monitoring function for temperature protection, which allows it to adjust the charge current to ensure timely charging and protect the battery from becoming overcharged.
