BTA201-600E, 126 application field and working principle

A Triode Alternating Current (TRIAC) is a type of thyristor, which is a semiconductor device that acts like a switch for controlling and/or triggering various types of applications. Generally, it is largely used for AC power circuits and has three terminals called main terminal (MT1), gate terminal (G), and main terminal (MT2). Among these three terminals, the main terminals (MT1 and MT2) are the external circuits, while the gate terminal (G) is used to control the conduction of current through MT1 and MT2.

The BTA20-600E Triac from STMicroelectronics is a very powerful and versatile Triac, with features such as low off-state voltage and a high rating for the gate capability. This Triac has two versions, the 126 and the 400, which are designed for different applications.
