The CDCE949PWR is a 1-to-6 frequency generator, also referred to as a low-jitter programmable clock synthesizer. It can generate 1-6 output frequencies, with each output frequency as high as 250 MHz. The CDCE949PWR also includes an internal 14-bit phase accumulator, providing precise phase control over one or multiple output frequencies. In addition, the part offers considerable flexibility to users with the ability to program multiple phase values and frequencies within a single register.

The CDCE949PWR is commonly used in applications requiring high-frequency, low-jitter output signals, such as platforms and devices related to communications, broadcast, audio-video equipment and defense. The part is also ideal for applications which require multiple clock and data signals, such as digital signal processing, baseband, wireless and Ethernet applications.

The working principle of the CDCE949PWR is that the M/N divider is used to divide the input frequency into multiple prescaler outputs, and the resulting signals are then combined to form the required output clock frequency. The phase alignment between the resulting signals is then obtained by using a cascade of multiplexers and changeover switches.
