It is used as a one-way switch in a circuit, allowing current to pass through it in one direction, while blocking current in the opposite direction. The diode blocks current from travelling in the reverse direction by creating a depletion zone at the junction of the n-type and p-type semiconductor material.The CMPD3003TR operates on the principle of the “PN junction”. The PN junction is a semiconductor structure, made up of two types of semiconductor material - a Positive type material, and a Negative type material - joined together. When the PN junction is forward biased, the depletion zone narrows down, allowing electrons and holes to flow through it. This forward bias current flows through the diode.In reverse bias, the depletion zone widens, creating a barrier between the positive and negative type materials, which prevents current from flowing through the diode. This reverse bias current is blocked by the diode.The reverse recovery time of a diode is the time it takes for the diode to turn off after being forward biased.
