The CMPD6001C TR is a three-phase rectifier array designed for application in high-frequency AC-DC power conversion. It employs an intuitive, economical layout and an efficient design to ensure reliable operation and economical output at high power levels. This rectifier array features superior reverse recovery characteristics, making it ideal for AC-DC applications in which short-term HIGH voltage peaks occur. The CMPD6001C TR is able to handle up to 4,000mA of continuous current and is rated for operation at temperatures of up to 150°C. It is also designed to reduce reverse AC leakage currents, helping to minimize power loss.The CMPD6001C TR is composed of a three-phase rectifier array, with six individual rectifying diodes arranged in three phases. Each phase consists of two rectifying diodes connected in series, with each diode having a forward voltage drop of 0.6V at the rated current. The array is designed so that the three phases are 180° out of phase with each other, thus enabling rectification of the AC input signal without requiring an additional center-tap for voltage reference.The three-phase rectifier array is arranged in a symmetrical configuration, which ensures that the output is equal in phase and amplitude across the three lines. The output waveform will be sinusoidal in phase with the input, proportional to the magnitude of the input waveform and free of elevated noise or distortion.The CMPD6001C TR has two main areas of operation, power rectification and voltage hold-up. In power rectification mode, the rectifier array provides the DC power required for the application. During the voltage hold-up mode, the rectifier array acts as an energy storage device, enabling current to continue flowing even when the input voltage drops below a certain threshold.The power rectification process begins when a three-phase AC voltage is applied to the input terminals of the diode rectifier array. The capacitors connected to the diodes act as filters and hold the input voltage until it is ready for rectification. When the voltage reaches the proper value, the diodes begin to conduct, forming a three-phase bridge rectifier circuit. The voltage across the diodes is the forward voltage drop, and the capacitors act as filters to reduce ripple. The output from this stage is a DC voltage that is proportional to the input, and has no significant ripple or distortion.The voltage hold-up process involves storing energy within the bridge rectifier, to enable current to continue flowing when the input voltage drops below a certain threshold. To enable voltage hold-up, the capacitors connected to the diodes must be of sufficient capacity to hold the energy. Once the capacitors are charged to the desired level, the rectifier will start to conduct in the forward direction and the capacitors will act as a voltage source. In this manner, when the input voltage falls below the threshold, the voltage provided by the capacitors will ensure that current continues to flow from the output.The CMPD6001C TR is an ideal solution for a variety of applications requiring high-efficiency, reliable operation and economical output at high power levels.
