The CPDU12V0U-HF is an class A single unidirectional thyristor surge protection device for requirements of 12 V DC power bus. This protection device is designed to protect busbars and semiconductor devices from ESD, lightning spikes and other transients induced on input/output terminals. The CPDU12V0U-HF provides optimum protection for 12 V DC power applications due to its design to amplify ESD and other transient induced transients for up to 5000 V. It is an ideal device for modern application fields due to its small size, durability and wide voltage range.The CPDU12V0U-HFTVS (transient voltage suppression) diode is an unidirectional thyristor surge protector device for protecting semiconductor devices from electrical transients. The device is composed of two back-to-back thyristors, one on either side of a load, designed to quickly and safely divert transient current spikes away from the protected electronic component(s). The CPDU12V0U-HFTVS not only provides protection from high voltage transients, but also helps reduce the reverse recovery time of the switching device. The reverse recovery time is the time it takes for the device to charge up when the voltage is applied in reverse direction (in the case of transferring energy back to the grid). This helps keep switching losses to a minimum.The device also helps reduce the size of power supplies required to protect the semiconductor device from ESD (electrostatic discharge). The device can provide up to 5000 V ESD protection, which is much higher than the maximum ratings of most semiconductor devices, allowing power supplies to be designed to withstand a lower voltage.The CPDU12V0U-HFTVS has an operating voltage range of 5 to 24 Volts and is rated for up to 5A current.
