Thyristors - TRIACs
A TRIAC is a three-terminal semiconductor device, which is part of the family of thyristors. The acronym TRIAC stands for Triode for Alternating Current, and is classified as an AC switch. TRIACs are controllable three terminal bi-directional switches, which can be triggered by a current or voltage applied to the main terminal, or Gate.
