Working principle

CY2305CSXC-1 works by operating a high-frequency oscillator. The total circuit block diagram of the device consists of several discrete blocks, such as the phase comparator, charge pump, loop filter, frequency divider and voltage controlled oscillator. The Phase-Locked Loop (PLL) comprises of a phase detector, charge pump and a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO).

The phase detector takes two input clocks and generates an error signal which present the phase difference between the signals. The error signal is then amplified and filtered by a low-pass filter to get a DC control voltage. The charge pump is used to amplify the input control error voltage just after phase comparator, so that it can be used to control the VCO. This VCO is used to generate the clock outputs with low jitter. The frequency of the VCO output clock can be varied by changing the applied control voltage.

The output of the VCO is divided with a clock divider which works as a feedback loop to the input. The output of the clock divider is then compared with the reference clock by the phase detector. This comparison generates another control error signal which is fed back to the VCO. This looping helps to lock the output frequency to the input reference frequency.

The band-stop filter and VCO pre-scalar, working as an auxiliary block, enhance the output jitter and improves the system stability. The band-stop filter aids in preventing reference frequency being modulated by VCO, and the pre-scalar helps to reduce the random jitter in the system.

Using the above principles and components, the CY2305CSXC-1 can be used in various electronic equipments and communication networks, as a generator of signals with low jitter and accurate frequency.
