The CY7C4231V-15JC offers a highly advanced, low-cost FIFO Memory solution for applications in which large data transfers and long distance applications can be accommodated. As a logic-based FIFO, the CY7C4231V-15JC provides asynchronous buffering between master and slave devices over long cable lengths at data rates up to 1.6 Gbps. The device includes a wide variety of features and capabilities such as auto-power down and RTSP™ auto-negotiation, which ensure compatibility with devices such as Gigabit Ethernet MACs, PHYs and switches, Serial ATA and other protocol-compliant designs.

The CY7C4231V-15JC features two memory arrays, one 32Kb and one 16Kb each array, that are accessed in alternating access mode. This device allows up to 256 bytes of data transfer across a data pipe, so the same data can be read and written in either of the two FIFO memories simultaneously. This allows for efficient data transfers with low latency.

The device also provides support for I2C, SMBus and SPI interfaces to enable fast and easy configuration. The device is suitable for applications such as DSPs, base-stations, gateway processors, high-performance routers, and VoIP applications.

The CY7C4231V-15JC also supports a wide range of diagnostic tools, including an Event Retry Count register and a Scheduling Monitor which can be used to monitor the accuracy of data transfers, and detect the presence of faults within the data streaming pipeline. The device also supports JTAG, allowing for easy and convenient access for debug and test purposes.
