DC994A is a 3-channel white-light RGB LED driver from ON Semiconductor. It is specially designed for driving RGB LEDs for energy efficient general illumination applications. This driver provides a high efficiency, high power factor, wide range constant current source, low ripple, and low fluctuation. It supports a wide input voltage, various connecting schemes, dimming, and configurable OVP parameters. Furthermore, it has a built-in temperature sensing, OCP, OVP, and other protections for reliable operation, which greatly improves the system service life.DC994A is an ideal solution for lighting applications that require wide range of output current, dimming and/or multiple LEDs control. It can power up to 6 RGB LEDs in series or in parallel to form multi-channel constant current output. The maximum output current is 10.8A, which is enough to drive high power LED and capable of lighting up large area. It also features a wide dimming range, and thermal shutdown protection, with an extended range of dimming options.The DC994A works based on an innovative technique to regulate the current in an LED string. It uses a single input voltage and provides a wide constant current range in order to achieve a uniform light output. Using a unique peak current control topology, the DC994A monitors the current in each LED string, compares it to the programmed current, and adjusts the applied voltage accordingly to maintain the set current level. It also comes with a programmable over-voltage and under-current protection, ensuring that the output voltage is always within the specified range, even when the LEDs are shorted. The DC994A is also highly efficient, with a minimum efficiency of 75%, and a minimum power factor of 0.85.DC994A can be used in many lighting applications, such as area lights, path lights, outdoor wall washers, downlights, and street and driveway lightings. It is compatible with PWM and analog dimming, so it can be used for indoor and outdoor lighting, such as offices, warehouses, parks, and residential homes. The wide range of constant current output allows for more precise lighting control and gives a more even, uniform light output. In addition, this driver is also compatible with multi-programmable, energy efficient LED Lighting Systems. It can control multiple white-light RGB LED drivers and provide a wide range of control options, such as auto configuration, manual configuration, scheduling, dimming, and group dimming when used with compatible controllers. Overall, DC994A is an ideal LED driver for driving multiple RGB LED modules with high efficiency and low ripple, while providing a wide range of control options. Its innovative peak current control topology helps to ensure polarization between adjacent channels, making it a secure and reliable solution for a variety of LED lighting applications.
